Shugo was a stalwart guardian for the Komashi Clan who begrudgingly accepted an assassination assignment. He voiced his concerns with an assignment so drastically different from what his career had become, but these concerns were shrugged off. The extraction failed and Shugo was made the fall-guy. Now he's imprisoned by the Gira and trying his best to protect himself and his teammates in the arena.
